The context

Refining an existing Odoo ERP for agile audiovisual manufacturing

SMART&CO, part of Smart-Group, designs and manufactures visual and audiovisual solutions for professional and commercial spaces through its Smart-Live and Smart-Sign branches.

Before this project, SMART&CO was already using Odoo ERP but relied on standard forms and templates that did not fully match their operational reality. Even minor changes to documents required disproportionate effort, and internal teams lacked clear guidance on which Odoo settings to configure or how best practices from other companies could be adapted to their own use of the system.

The objective was to adapt Odoo precisely to SMART&CO’s visual and audiovisual activities without heavy development, ensure reliable day-to-day operations, and give teams confidence that their tools, settings and processes would evolve smoothly in line with the business.

Their needs

Fine-tuning Odoo to match SMART&CO’s way of working

SMART&CO wanted to make minor adjustments to forms and templates, such as adding fields, calculations and visual changes, without heavy development, and to receive advice on Odoo best practices, help in identifying the right settings to adjust, and insights into how other companies handle similar situations.

  • Enable minor form and template changes without resorting to heavy custom development.
  • Adjust fields, calculations and visual layouts so that documents reflect SMART&CO’s actual operations.
  • Get clear guidance on Odoo best practices and which configuration settings to use.
  • Gain insights into how similar companies use Odoo to address comparable challenges.

The proposed solution

A structured analysis of the existing Odoo environment

Captivea France started with a comprehensive analysis of SMART&CO’s Odoo environment, combining business discovery with themed workshops by team and function. This exercise clarified feasibility, confirmed the project budget and approach, defined the timeline, and produced detailed deliverable documents, giving SMART&CO a clear, shared roadmap for tailoring Odoo to their specific requirements.

The first step of this project is to perform a complete analysis of the client's Odoo environment.

Analysis objectives

  • To be reassured on the faisability
  • Show that we understood their business
  • To confirm a budget
  • To know and confirm how we will do it
  • Know the timeline

Analysis processes

  1. Business discovery
  2. Workshops By theme / group of people / domains
  3. Create the deliverables documents
  4. Present it
  5. Handle feedback
