The context
Migration of a mature Odoo ERP at the heart of biomedical research
Luxembourg Institute of Health is a public biomedical research organisation focused on patient-centred translational research, especially in cancer and immune disorders, leveraging advanced technologies and multidisciplinary teams to improve public health.
Before the project, LIH had been using Odoo for several years across many departments, with numerous custom developments added over time to address specific functional needs. This rich but complex environment needed to evolve to keep pace with new Odoo versions, while safeguarding existing processes and customisations that supported critical research and administrative activities.
The objective was to secure a smooth migration to the latest Odoo version, ensure continuity of operations for all departments relying on the system, and fully leverage new functionalities and performance improvements to better support LIH’s mission in public health research.

The proposed solution
A structured analysis phase to prepare the Odoo ERP migration
Captivea Luxembourg began with a complete analysis of LIH’s Odoo environment, organising business discovery workshops by theme, groups of users and domains. From these sessions, detailed deliverable documents were created to describe the target solution, migration approach, budget and schedule. These were then presented to LIH, feedback was gathered and incorporated, and a clear roadmap was established to migrate the many Odoo modules in use while securing performance, reliability and functional coverage.
