Founded in 1999 and part of the Copefrito group, Société de Pêche de Sainte-Marie (SPSM) is based on the island of Sainte-Marie (Nosy Boraha) in Madagascar. It specializes in fishing, collection, processing, and export of seafood products, and notably introduced night lamp fishing (lamparo), enabling hundreds of local pirogue fishermen to catch pelagic fish.Part of the catch is consumed locally, while the surplus is purchased, packaged, and exported by the company.
