The Test
Count your score if the statement is true for you today.
- Your team enters the same data into more than one system. An order lands, and someone re-types it into stock, then into accounting, then into a shipping tool. (1)
- You've outgrown spreadsheets for core operations. Inventory, orders and finances now live in files that are one wrong cell away from chaos. (1)
- Different departments work from different numbers. Sales says one thing, finance says another, and both are "sure." (1)
- You can't see your business in real time. To know where you stand, you have to ask someone and wait. (1)
- Manual work and small errors eat hours every week. Copy, paste, double-check, fix, repeat. (1)
- Your tools don't talk to each other. Accounting, sales, stock and shipping each live on their own island. (1)
- Growth is making your setup feel fragile, not just tight. What worked at 10 people is cracking at 30. (1)
- You spend more time managing your tools than using what they tell you. The dashboard is a myth; the exports are a chore. (1)
- You've said "there has to be a better way" more than once this year. Out loud. Probably at month-end. (1)
- Leadership is open to change and willing to do it properly. Not "someday", but ready to invest the time to get it right. (1)

Your score
Count your checks
0 to 3
Not yet, and that's fine. Your current setup still does the job. Don't fix what isn't broken. Keep this list, and run the test again in six months. Growth has a way of ticking these boxes for you.
4 to 6
The cracks are showing. You're on the edge. The pain is real but not yet on fire. This is the best moment to move, calmly and on your terms, before "urgent" makes the decision for you.
7 to 10
You're ready. The signs aren't subtle anymore. At this point, waiting is the expensive option: every month you delay is hours and money left on the table. It's time to talk to someone who does this properly.
The honest part
If you scored low, a good partner will tell you to wait. An ERP is a tool, not a trophy.
Picture two companies scoring the same 5 on this test. One waits, tidies its spreadsheets, and runs the test again in six months — nothing lost. The other panics, picks a system in a week, and goes live before anyone maps how orders actually move through the business. A year later, the first company implements calmly, on its own schedule. The second is still untangling workflows nobody documented, paying twice for the same project. Same score, same starting line, completely different outcome — because one waited to be ready, not just to be in pain.
And if you scored high but you're nervous, that's normal too. The businesses that regret an ERP almost never regret the software. They regret a rushed rollout with the wrong partner. The decision that matters most isn't which ERP. It's who helps you put it in.
One last question
Forget the checklist for a second and answer this with your gut: "If nothing changed for the next two years, would that be okay?". If something in you just said no, you already know your score.
That's the whole idea: help you run your business better, not sell you software you don't need yet.
You've got your score. Let's turn it into a plan.
